We had made plans to travel the North Channel today in case the seas were still impassable, but all was much better and the wind was in our favour. We were able to motorsail most of the way to Sarnia which we reached by 11 am. Decided to keep going to Windsor.
There was mist and rain as we passed Sarnia but the weather cleared up as we travelled down the St. Clair R. The current helped with our time even as the rain developed again.
Lots of weekend boaters on Lake St. Clair and an air show was happening on the American side.
As we were coming into Windsor, we had a paddlewheeler to avoid and Mike was watching the char tprogram; All of a sudden we came to a full stop as we hit ground. Luckily we were able to pull ourselves off and reached the marina without further mishap. Hopefully not too much damage to the keel. Luckily Mike is a shipwright!!
Had dinner at the local restaurant and a welcome shower. Called everyone at home to give them an update and an ETA. Apparently quite severe storms about, which must have been the cause of the crazy seas and clouds we had encountered.
Left Windsor at 0700 and on Lake Erie by 10. Lots of freighters to manage. Interesting industrial activity on the American side as well.
Had to do a little repair job just outside the river. Rick and Mike had it well in hand.
