Arrived in Port Colbourne at 1700 hours. A fairly calm crossing of Lake Erie. The wind came up during the last leg and we made good time, shaving 5 hours off our upbound time! Only one sailboat here at the moment. A lovely evening. It was even shorts weather yesterday on the lake. Locks tomorrow.
An early start to the day to move into the locks. We had to wait for awhile for what we were told was a large cruiser. It was definitely large!
A fairly smooth ride through the locks. Going down is much easier and we were ready for the large holes in some of the locks.
We decided to sail through the night,( I think because Mike knew that I was anxious to get back to land and to school.) A good trip across the lake to Cobourg. Once we tied up at the wall in Cobourg had a chance to call my cousins who live nearby and they came to say hi. Then I called my dad to come and get me so that I could get back to school.
Left Rick and Mike to bring the boat home. My adventure was over. What a trip of a lifetime.
Mike and Rick had a nice dinner in Cobourg with my cousins. Left the following morning and spent the following night at the west end of the Trent Canal. Moored in Picton Harbour on August 30. Home safe and sound.
