Said goodbye to the Sleeping Giant and headed off for Thunder Bay this morning. Winds were building and the mist came in to envelop the Giant. A magical sight.
A bit rocky and rolly getting to Thunder Bay. Did see some pelicans but too rough for photos.
Prince Arthur’s Landing Marina is a lovely spot. Staff were super helpful Drove Mike all over to get him oriented to the city. Thunder Bay, itself is not much to look at. It is the birthplace of my father (Fort William), so have a tiny connection to the place.
Day one we received some disturbing news from home which rocked our boat, but nothing to keep us from finishing our trip. Just added a bit of worry. Kids!
Mike and I went to dinner on our own at the Prospect House Steak House. A very interesting place although we didn’t have much of an appetite.
Plans were put in place the next day so we were able to relax a bit and enjoyed the rest of our stay. Went for Sunday breakfast at the famous Hoito Restaurant (the Finnish place Mike had learned about). A half hour wait but worth it. Did some shopping. Mike found a great Italian butcher who would vacumn pack meat for us and have it ready for us before we left. We went to the Italian Festival in the evening. Frank was willing to do his own thing, so it gave us some space.
